BarrioFoto Foundation: 19 Years Transforming Lives Through Art
BarrioFoto Foundation is a sociocultural organization that has promoted, for 19 years, values through art in its various forms among children and adolescents from low-income communities in the District of Barranquilla, the municipality of Puerto Colombia, and the department of Atlántico.
Regularly, at its headquarters and in each of the neighborhoods they visit, they hold workshops in Painting, Drawing, Collage, Poetry, Dance, Puppetry, Photography, Theater, and Storytelling. At the end of these workshops, they also present an open-air screening of a film or short film by Colombian filmmakers.
At the end of each year, the Foundation organizes an international showcase featuring artists from other countries, establishing partnerships with organizations such as Luneta 50 and the Tuna Mayor Corazonista of Puerto Colombia. This has made it possible to host storytellers from Italy, Spain, and Venezuela, as well as musicians from Mexico.
The artists and instructors who lead the workshops are recognized figures in their respective disciplines within the Colombian Caribbean region. United by the social mission of BarrioFoto Foundation, they have taken on the commitment to transmit, through art, fundamental values such as self-esteem, solidarity, a sense of belonging, self-love, and respect for the environment, contributing to the strengthening of the social fabric and the holistic development of children and youth.

Every weekend, at its headquarters and in the neighborhoods they visit, BarrioFoto Foundation promotes painting, drawing, poetry, music, photography, and film, as well as artistic creation using recycled materials and driftwood from the Magdalena River, fostering values such as self-esteem, a sense of belonging, and respect for others and the environment.

To contribute to the improvement of quality of life and the holistic development of children, adolescents, and young people through art in its diverse expressions, which it uses as a tool for education, expression, and social transformation. BarrioFoto Foundation promotes access to culture and recreation as fundamental rights, aimed at dignifying life, strengthening identity, and expanding opportunities for children and youth.
VISIoN
La Fundación Barriofoto será altamente reconocida a nivel nacional e internacional como una entidad sin ánimo de lucro para desarrollo integral y personal de los niños de escasos recursos a través de medios artísticos. Tendrá sedes en los distintos municipios del departamento del Atlántico las principales ciudades de Colombia y una en el exterior, vinculando laboralmente a muchas personas en cada una de ellas. Vincular mínimo 10 artistas como maestros en la Escuela de Formación Artística Integral.
